In our ongoing quest to simplify and popularize cybersecurity and data protection concepts, the CY-clic team has built you a free Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) report template. Concretely, this template is here to guide you, step by step, in writing your PIA reports related to the transfer or communication of personal information outside of Quebec.

Since the second effective date of the Act to modernize legislative provisions regarding the protection of personal information (Law 25), Quebec businesses and non-profit organizations, despite their sometimes limited resources and the lack of precise guidelines, are striving to comply with the new requirements.

Among these are the well-known Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA); a preventive approach aimed at protecting personal information and individual privacy. Organizations must now carry out these assessments in several specific situations.

"According to a study conducted by Gowling WLG and IAB Canada, 69% of respondents expressed the need for the practical provisions of Law 25 to be more clearly defined. When we see that the PIA guide provided by the Commission d'Accès à l'Information (CAI) is over 50 pages long, we understand why our SMEs and non-profits feel overwhelmed and discouraged..." - Emeline Manson, President of CY-clic and expert in fraud prevention and cybersecurity.
